All City Coffee

For this review we both visited All City Coffee in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle.

So the details:
www.allcitycoffee.com
All City Coffee is located at 1205 South Vale Street. In the downtown district of Georgetown.

The place is very hip. Retro furniture provides seating for its many patrons. Lots of friends stroll in for a cup of coffee. Some with friends and others to enjoy some peace while reading the paper. Paintings of a few nude ladies are hanging on the wall to add to the decor. A guitar is available for playing if you are feeling musical! Dogs are welcomed and even allowed to sit on the couch.

As for the coffee: All City brews its own brand of coffee. Jasmine ordered a Macchiato. While I slurped my classic favorite drink a White Chocolate Mocha.

The Macchiato was not as "woody" as compared to Satellite's Coffee Companies version. It was mainly robust, tart and "purely coffee tasting". The Macchiato was in need of some sugar. (Pure Cane Sugar is available at the counter)

My White Chocolate Mocha was not as sweet as it is from Starbucks or Tully's. Though, I was very tired and the strong taste of the coffee worked well with the sweet syrup much to my enjoyment. I felt more awake.

The coffee was a typical price. The Macchiato was $2.70 and the White Chocolate Mocha was $3.10 (give or take a few cents).

After effects:

The coffee gave us a little afternoon pick me up. We weren't experiencing an intense buzz, but more of a soothing one.

Overall:
Atmosphere: 3/5 (More adult orientated, slightly crowded with chairs, could be cozier)
Coffee: 4.5/5 (Not the best White Chocolate Mocha but the Macchiato was the best so far!)

Seattle Pie Company (SPC)

Hello readers! One of my new favorite spots to spend a lazy saturday morning with friends is the Seattle Pie Company. Known for their wide variety of delicious and mouthwatering pies.

So the details:
www.seattlepiecompany.com
Seattle Pie Company is located at 3111 West McGraw Street right across the street from the US Bank in Magnolia Village. They also soon will be expanding to Tacoma where they will open their second shop at the previous location of Old Town Photo (2212 N. 30th St).

The place is everything you would expect a pie shop to be. It is incredibly cozy with wood floors and nice sitting tables. Large windows look out at the street and let in sunlight. It is perfect for a get together with friends, a place to study/read, or just to do some good old relaxin'.

As for the pie: Now I do realize this is a coffee blog and they do indeed serve coffee to compliment your pie, but sadly I didn't drink any on my many visits. I have been here a few times and concluded that my favorite pie would have to be the "Desserted Island Pie". This could possibly be one of the best pies I have ever come to contact with. It's a mixture of Raspberries, Marionberries, Strawberries, and Granny Apples with a delectable crumb top.

I also had to get my pie, "à la mode". Warmed, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

A slice of this heavenly pie costs $3.50, and is worth every penny.

The Seattle Pie Company also sells quiches and cream pies. You can buy a whole pie or a slice. They also have sandwiches and Swedish Pancakes if you want to mix-it up a little. This place is really the best.

After effects:
I wish I could go back. The rest of my day was spent dreaming of that delicious slice.

Overall:
Atmosphere: 4/5
Pie: 5/5

First Review! Satellite Coffee Co.

Before I say anything, I must confess: I know nothing about coffee. I ordered an Espresso Macchiato of course, thinking, "Oh caramel macchiato, I bet its sweet..." Yeah, no.

So the details:
http://www.satellitecoffeeco.com/
Satellite Coffee is located at 817 Division Ave in Tacoma, right across the street from Wright's Park and Subway.

The place is adorable, there is nice outdoor seating and some bar stools inside. Both views look out wide over the park and the intersection. It was sunny this afternoon and quite enjoyable. I give the atmosphere the highest rating; not necessarily cozy, but chill.

As for the coffee: They serve Stumptown which from my two experiences drinking it, (being honest here, and again I know nothing about coffee) tastes a little sour and has a nutty-earthy after taste.

The earthy taste came out especially when I slurped the french press. If you've never tried 'slurping' coffee, I highly recommend it.

As I said before, I ordered the Espresso Macchiato, one size: $2.79 total.

Same taste as french press only sweeter, I'm assuming from the cream. Just a guess, the amount was a little less than a cup. And just look at that presentation! I love it when coffee places do that...and you get a little spoon!

*All I said was, "Espresso Macchiato" to the barista and got this, I didn't specify, but I bet if you ask, you can get it 'to go'.

I like my coffee sweet so I added about a tablespoon of cane sugar (provided) and sipped it up. The one morning I got an 8oz french press I added milk, cane sugar and nutmeg. Yum!

After effects:
After breakfast and an 8oz french press: I was pretty buzzed for about 4 hours but didn't crash too bad.
Espresso Macchiato @ 4:30pm: Meh, not as bad, a small buzz for a couple of hours.

Overall:
Atmosphere: 5/5 (Take your friends)
Coffee: 4/5 (Only because of the buzz I get, which isn't necessarily a bad thing)

A blog about coffee

So this is a blog about coffee. To be more specific, a blog about coffee from coffee shops in and around the Seattle area. Slightly more intriguing, my colleague and I both attend a the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts. What happens when you mix circus people with caffeine?? Only time will tell...Enjoy! :)
